The Climate, Jobs, and Justice Package: A Teach-in and Reception

  • The Climate Museum Pop-Up 120 Wooster Street New York, NY, 10012 United States (map)

We hosted the remarkable coalition NY Renews for a teach-in and reception on the Climate, Jobs, and Justice Package (CJJP), a legislative package that would make New York a leader on climate justice and set a new national standard for climate and environmental policy.

NY Renews, which includes over 300 environmental, justice, faith, labor, and community groups across New York State, is campaigning to pass this groundbreaking, standard-setting package of climate laws. At this event, Coalition Organizer Aurora Crooks moderated a discussion about what this vital legislation would accomplish and how we can all get involved. Speakers included Victor Davila, Community Organizer at THE POINT Community Development Corporation, an environmental justice organization in the South Bronx; Reyna Cohen, Just Transition Policy Manager at ALIGN, an alliance of labor and community working for justice and sustainability in New York; and Prisha Rao, Lead Queens Organizer at TREEage, an organization founded and led by young New Yorkers fighting for a local Green New Deal.

There was ample time to engage with these changemakers during a Q&A, mingle with both newly minted and longstanding civic activists, and enjoy refreshments on the house.
