False Solutions: Carbon Capture, Plastics Recycling, and Green Colonialism

  • The Climate Museum 105 Wooster Street New York, NY, 10012 United States (map)

In light of THE END OF FOSSIL FUEL’s closing night, we hosted a distinguished panel on a major challenge we face: “climate solutions” that are actually, and only, PR solutions for the fossil fuel industry. False Solutions: Carbon Capture, Plastics Recycling, and Green Colonialism presented three experts’ critiques of strategically significant areas of industry disinformation and deception that are designed to facilitate the continuation of business as usual without opposition from the public.

Dr. Ana Baptista (The New School) on carbon capture; Dr. Dean Chahim (New York University) on green colonialism; and, Julia Cohen, MPH (Plastic Pollution Coalition) on plastic recycling. Climate Museum director Miranda Massie moderated, and light refreshments were provided.
