Covid has exposed and intensified excruciating racial and class inequalities in US society. The climate crisis does that all the time in slower motion, on a larger scale.

The climate crisis is a crisis of intergenerational justice. Delay by older people who could move us forward will result, as a scientific certainty, in far greater suffering by younger people.

•••

We need to do more than offer people a profound shared experience. For us to be doing our job, that experience must be translated into civic action.
