IT'S ALWAYS DARKEST

The most immediate barrier between us and the bright future we deserve is the fossil fuel industry. But as 2023's summer of climate disasters transitioned into fall, change was in the air everywhere:

ECUADOR VOTED TO ABOLISH DRILLING in a 2.5 million acre national park.

75,000 PROTESTORS MARCHED IN NEW YORK CITY TO END FOSSIL FUELS following a week of climate protests in Germany, Senegal, and India, among other places.

BOSTON BANNED FOSSIL FUELS in all new municipal buildings.

CALIFORNIA FILED A LAWSUIT AGAINST BIG OIL for its deceptive practices and the devastation it has caused the state's residents.

K-POP FANS RALLIED IN A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR to protest a South Korean coal plant.

NINE PACIFIC AND CARIBBEAN ISLAND NATIONS PETITIONED the Tribunal for the Law of the Sea for a ruling that greenhouse gas pollution violates international law.

THE INAUGURAL AFRICAN CLIMATE SUMMIT concluded with a unanimous call for a tax on fossil fuels.

The fossil fuel system's legitimacy, which industry insiders call its "social license to operate," is weaker all the time. As climate justice activists raise awareness of the damage the industry's product is causing, its license is more and more precarious.

Together, we can revoke the industry's license to operate.

JUST BEFORE THE DAWN

Please close your eyes, take a breath, and allow yourself to imagine a vibrant, just future, made real. What does that future feel like, and who are you in it?
