Climate Speaks Workshops

What is climate change and who does it affect? In these workshops, we explored the impacts of climate change and their intersections with social justice, as well as creative responses to the climate crisis.

Next, we explored how we can use the arts to advocate for climate action. We focused on the power of written and spoken poetry to motivate social change. Students were guided through the process of writing and refining original work.

Climate Speaks 2019 workshops were held at Urban Word, The DreamYard Project, Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, Sunset Park High School. These workshops were only open to high school students in the New York Metropolitan area.

Presented in partnership with the NYC Department of Education Office of Sustainability with special thanks to Urban Word NYC.
