Climate and Environmental Justice 101 with Jacqui Patterson

  • The Climate Museum Pop-Up 120 Wooster Street New York, NY, 10012 United States (map)

In this intergenerational dialogue on environmental and climate justice, two youth leaders at the Climate Museum engaged with internationally renowned environmental and climate justice advocate and founder of the Chisholm Legacy Project, Jacqui Patterson. Patterson’s work on the frontlines of environmental and racial justice is a model for how to shape these collective movements. The Chisholm Legacy Project centers the Just Transition framework in all of their work: making sure workers’ rights are taken into account when economics shift to sustainable production, supporting climate justice movements to better center racial justice and Black liberation, and working with frontline communities so that they are in the driver’s seat of creating change. Following this intergenerational dialogue, visitors were encouraged to engage with the art, social science, and action opportunities presented at the Climate Museum Pop-Up. People with all levels of climate justice knowledge were warmly invited to attend.
