Climate, Jobs, and Justice in New York State: A Teach-In and Reception

  • The Climate Museum 105 Wooster Street New York, NY, 10012 United States (map)

The Climate Museum was delighted to once again host NY Renews for an overview and update on the state of the Climate, Jobs, and Justice Package (CJJP), an ambitious legislative initiative that would propel New York to the forefront of climate justice leadership nationally. Among other things, the package would lower energy bills, unionize green jobs, and provide access to healthy and clean environments for every community in the state.

NY Renews unites over 370 environmental justice, faith, labor, and community groups throughout New York State that have been forcefully—and with notable successes—advocating for the passage of this groundbreaking package of climate laws. This event included a discussion covering both the far-reaching impact of the crucial legislation and how each of us can contribute to its success.

A panel of leaders in this fight explored how environmental justice, youth empowerment, and labor rights play key roles in how we advocate for the package. The panelists represented organizations championing the CJJP across New York. Panelists included:

  • Angelica Saavedra, Citizens Climate Lobby, Brooklyn

  • Michael Magazine, Fridays for Future and NY Renews Youth Committee

  • Faiza Azam, ALIGN NYC

  • Daniela Castillo, El Puente

Thank you to all who joined us in connecting with fellow advocates both seasoned and emerging as we united in the pursuit of a more just and sustainable future.
