Art and Social Change: an Artist Talk

  • Javits Center 445 11th Avenue New York, NY, 10001 United States (map)

R. Gregory Christie’s 70-foot mural covers the south side of the Garden Eatery this Climate Week. Entitled Making Tomorrow, the mural depicts the struggle for, and transition to, a safe and just future that is free of fossil fuels. The Climate Museum is honored to have Christie onsite to discuss his own journey as an artist, the power of arts and culture to make change and inspire, and the critical importance of empathy in the climate movement. Christie is an NAACP Image Award winner, a six-time Coretta Scott King Honor recipient, and a Caldecott Honor winner. He’s won additional awards from The New York Times, the Museum of Tolerance, and The Boston Globe. Tori Bush, Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow in Climate Humanities & Social Justice at the Climate Museum will join Christie in conversation.
